Born in Lin’an, Zhejiang Province, China, Xinqun Feng graduated from the Design Institute of Jiangnan University and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree. He is Associate Professor at the Art and Design Institute of Donghua University, Shanghai, and a frequent guest lecturer in fine arts and design throughout China and internationally.

Acknowledged as one of China’s most accomplished watercolourists, he is the author of numerous monographs and his articles have been extensively published in international academic journals.

Feng Xinqun has exhibited regularly in China, Japan, France, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Australia. The recipient of numerous awards, his work is represented in major public, corporate and private collections in China and abroad.

Currently, he is director of the Shanghai Watercolour Association, Deputy Director of the Environmental Arts Committee of Shanghai, a member of the Chinese Watercolour Painters Association, a member of the Chinese Ministry of the Arts Master of Fine Arts Education Steering Committee, Vice President of the SSDF Design Forum Committee, a member of the Sculpture Academy of Asia and a member of the Modern Art Association of Japan. He was the organiser of the prestigious Lushan International Watercolour Festival in 2007 2008, 2009 and 2010,2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018.  

Xinqun Feng was made an Honorary Member of the Australian Watercolour Institute in 2010 in recognition of his service to watercolour internationally.
