Tibetan Old Amah

In the East, watercolour is a ‘light music.’ I hope to break the headlock. As a realistic painter of all traditional subjects, e.g. portraits, my aesthetic goal is that my watercolour can also be a symphony, which not only has a personal particular style but also maintains the uniqueness of the watercolour language.

Tianya Zhou was awarded Bachelor’s Degree from Hubei Institute of Fine Art, currently he lives and paints in Shenzhen and works as a Curator and Professional artist  of Luohu Cultural Center, also as Founder and Curator of Shenzhen International Watercolour Biennial Exhibition.

Tianya is an elected member of many watercolour and art societies, including the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI), UK, the China Artists Association (CAA), American Watercolor Society (AWS), National Watercolor Society (NWS), USA, Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC), and an Honorary Member of Australian Watercolour Institute since 2014.

He is the recipient of numerous art prizes, including the Bronze Medal Award in the 10th National Arts Exhibition of the Ministry of Culture of China; Excellence Award in the 7th National Watercolor & Pastel Exhibition of the CAA; The Debra Manifold Memorial Award of the RI; Morris J.Shubin AWS.Memorial Award; Mary S.Litt Memorial Medal; Louis J.Kaep Memorial Award of the AWS;. Jack Richeson & Co. Purchase Award; Watercolor West Reciprocal Award; Jerry’s Artarama Award; Jeanette Thayer Schmidt Memorial Cash Award and the QoR Watercolor Merchandise Award of  the NWS.
