Rainforest Walk

My inspiration is found in nature’s glory. From the simplest flower to the grandest landscape to the wonders beneath the ocean, I have always been in awe of the natural beauty surrounding me. To capture this beauty in art form is truly a challenge. It leads me to endless experimentation with colour and texture to reflect the light, colour, depth, mood and atmosphere I see in the world around me.

Jutta Chalk immigrated to Australia from Germany in 1957. Having obtained an Advanced Diploma in Fine Art and Statement of Attainment in Printmaking from Wollongong TAFE, she has continued further training with published watercolour artists in Australia and France.

A practising artist and tutor specialising in watercolour, her artistic experience includes 18 years as a graphic artist and art studio manager. She has exhibited in over 80 group exhibitions in the past 13 years and has won numerous art prizes, including the 2013 John Copes Watercolour Prize, the Iris Society NSW Art Prize, Kiama Art Society Prize and NSW Seniors Week Art Competition.

In 2011, Chalk was included in International Contemporary Masters Vol. V, published by World Wide Art Books, Inc., and to exhibit in the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art International Contemporary Masters V Exhibition, USA.

Her watercolour paintings are represented in the Winton Shire Council Regional Gallery, Queensland, and many private collections throughout Australia, Germany, Hungary, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, Canada and United Arab Emirates (Dubai).

A member of the Australian Watercolour Institute since 2012, Chalk is a member of the National Gallery of Australia Art Society; Wollongong City Gallery Art Society; Project Contemporary Artspace, Wollongong; Kiama Art Society and Bowral and District Art Society.
